Regarding the selection and recommendation of DMR devices.

BG2VWO

Baofong DM1701B, self-flashed with OpenGD77, offers good value for money. The main drawback is that it doesn't support GPS, but you can manually enter latitude and longitude coordinates.

pjwbb

Where can I still purchase the DM1801? Recommendations please.😄

BG6UZM

pjwbb The new version 1801 cannot be flashed with GD77; there are plenty available on Taobao at a low price.

BG6UZM

pjwbb You've all said "AliExpress," haven't you?

BG6UZM

BH4JBV When it comes to value for money, the DM1701 remains the best option. While the FreedomComm 878 is a good product, it's too expensive. The DM1801 is the most affordable.

BH4GUG

BG6UZM Is GPS really essential? If not, I'd rather buy the 1701 for $170 instead of the 380 for $380.

HEY115

BH4JBV A fair and accurate assessment!

Ken

It has been half a year. Do you have any recommendations for updating these device recommendation information?

BG2EFX

I stand by my opinion.
You could consider buying either the UV380 or the 10W UV390, and getting a GPS version. Then you can flash it with GD77.
If you need a high-end solution, contact "Jian Er" to get an eight-wood product. It can meet all your needs.

BH4GUG

BG2EFX I've been playing it for about six months, and I think it's pretty good (model 380).

BG2EFX

BH4GUG Yes, all the recommendations I've made are based on my own experiences and what I found to be good.

BA7BK Okay. Even Mr. HAM understands. But we can't say "legal letter warning."

BA7BK

Why isn't anyone recommending the GUR radio? It has built-in UV protection, full mode support, and an optional DMR module.

BA4QAO

Overall, I think the iDoo UV4R is pretty good.

yuzhou

BA4QAO I also have UV4R, it's very useful.

Ken

@BA4QAO @yuzhou There are relatively few online reviews for the Aiduo UV-4R, and I only found one review by Dong Ge on Bilibili. There's also the Yisheng AR-55A, which is in a similar price range, has an FCC approval code, and doesn't include GPS. There are also some third-party reviews available for this model online. Could anyone provide a comparison recommendation between these two models?

BA4QAO

Ken The UV4R seems like a good option, especially since it's priced around $300 here. The 26W global digital contact directory is also very attractive. If you want to learn more, follow Douyin and "Dong Ge's" amateur radio broadcasts, which start at 9 PM every evening.

Thorns

Can I use a 1801 to test equipment? I'm planning to apply for a DMR license, but do I need a license that specifically mentions the use of a DMR radio?

Liridice

Thorns It's no longer needed; I applied for it in September, and my license only shows one UV-K6.

Thorns

Liridice 👌Understood, thank you very much.

Thorns

I'd like to ask my friends about their experiences with the TYT-MD780 radio, specifically the DMRS-2017 model, not the Hitec MD780.
