The radio you chose is fine. You can update the firmware later. The Open GD77 firmware has a much higher level of playability than those so-called high-end radios, and some radios even cannot achieve hand-only operation. It's not suitable for HAM enthusiasts. I recommend that you choose the 1701 model from Baifeng, as it has the same functionality but with a larger screen!

BH4GUG If you want to communicate with satellites, get a lactic acid bacteria device and a handheld radio. The lactic acid bacteria device is inexpensive and easy to use for everyday communication. You also need a short-range Hua Hong 518+ and a 771.
If you can figure out the adjustment relationship for the lever, then the previous diamond-shaped lever will also work. However, I don't recommend it because that mechanism needs to be adjusted.

I bought a Brushao openGD77, Bo Peng DM1701B for 350 yuan on Taobao. The screen is quite large and it works okay; just as a reference.
