Generally, the best time for communication on the 10-meter band is from October to April of the following year. The closer it gets to summer, the worse the DX (long-distance) performance becomes, but in recent years, with peak solar activity during the summer, it has been possible to achieve some DX. In terms of overall performance, the 15-meter band tends to be better than the 10-meter band (especially in summer). That's why major contests like CQWW and CQWPX are held between October and April of the following year, including the ARRL 10-meter contest, which is held in December.
