Around 11:30 AM Beijing time on August 25, 2026, two amateur radio satellites with a focus on youth science education will be launched aboard the Long March 6-C.(CZ-6C)Launch of the carrier rocket. The two satellites are "China Youth Science Satellite BY04 (8104)" and "Jing'an Dream Star".(JAMX)。
Specifically, the BY04 satellite utilizes a reused U/V control subsystem to provide V/U amateur radio digital storage and forwarding services. Its frequency coordination scheme is based on the existing BY03 satellite (China Youth Science Satellite BY03), which was previously used but not currently in operation. The UHF downlink frequency is 437.443 MHz, using BPSK at 9600 bps, with a maximum transmit power of 27 dBm. The telemetry protocol is compatible with ASRTU (Friendship) format. The X-band handles high-speed telemetry/data transmission tasks, with data rates ≥1 Mbps.
JAMX space call sign: BJ1BJA. The satellite stores photos of landmarks from the Jing'an district, as well as outstanding science fiction artwork by primary and secondary school students in the entire area. These will be used with amateur radio equipment to transmit SSTV/SSDV-style maps once in orbit. The frequency will be determined by the on-duty operator:
* Station A: 435.5 MHz
* Station B: 435.075 MHz
CW beacons will also be broadcast at 435.175 MHz. The UHF downlink format is the same as BY04, and is compatible with the Astro Friendship decoder. The satellite also provides V/U FM voice signal transmitters: uplink 145.950 MHz, downlink 435.175 MHz, sub-audible 67.0 Hz. This transmitter will use pre-recorded call sign beacons (referencing FOX-1B) recorded by teenagers.
