My gasoline SUV, with a displacement of 2.5 liters, uses the cigarette lighter to power the antenna, and has a custom-designed rear door bracket for mounting the antenna.
Disadvantages: The chassis cannot be separated into panels, the cable length from the driver's seat to the rear door is over 4 meters, and the power consumption is a bit high.
Recommendation: Buy a radio with separate panels, place the main unit in the trunk, and use an antenna mount or suction cup to attach it to the trunk. Use short cables to minimize losses. If you also need long cables like me, be sure to buy -5 silver-plated feed lines with 316 connectors. I previously used 316D, which was about 4 meters long and had a loss of 45%. After switching to -5, the loss is only around 30%.
It's best to choose antennas from reputable brands. If you're concerned about losing it, a new one will cost around 100 yuan/RMB, but cheaper options may have poor performance.
In general, a power supply of 50W for a cigarette lighter shouldn't be a problem. If you are concerned, simply use 25W when writing.
