Currently, there is an ICOM IC-725A (different from the IC-725), which exhibits a severe frequency deviation, with the following symptoms:
Frequency meter testing: When the radio is transmitting at 14.120 MHz, the power meter shows a reading of 10.581 MHz; when the radio is transmitting at 29.6 MHz, the frequency meter readings fluctuate randomly between 3 Hz and 6 MHz.
Comprehensive testing: The radio transmits on AM mode at 14.120 MHz, and using a Motorola R-2210B/HS comprehensive tester, signals were detected at random frequencies of 10 MHz and 14 MHz. The power meter indicated approximately 0.01 W. However, when the comprehensive tester outputs -30 dBm, the radio still cannot receive the signal.
Other conditions: The CR-338 temperature-compensated crystal oscillator had a temperature of approximately 60°C after 10 minutes of operation.
Due to the limited publicly available information about this specific model, it may be difficult to repair it without significant effort.
