Flashing the firmware does not require a reset or calibration; this is only necessary when you manually replace the EEPROM or clear its data.
To be honest, are all K6 devices now factory-installed with larger storage? I haven't seen any discussions recently about successful upgrades. It seems like many people have had their upgrades fail.
