Here's my experience with FT8:
I recently obtained a shortwave 100W license, and my equipment is a YAESU FT-710 with a 20-meter long, four-band end-fed antenna.
Both 7MHz and 21MHz can operate at high power levels normally. 14MHz and 28MHz exceed 15W, which causes the computer to disconnect. I was able to transmit at 30W in FM mode without any problems. Later, I read that adding a magnetic ring to the USB cable connecting the computer and the radio can prevent interference, and this is effective in areas with magnetic rings.
Currently, the 7MHz, 14MHz, and 21MHz frequencies are all operating at normal power levels.
I have set the USB sound card input and output to 50%. In the JTDX software, the RX receive level should not exceed 70 dB, and the transmit gain should be -17 dB.
The purpose is to have the ALC table for the radio positioned on the left side, so that it barely moves. Connecting radios from Chile, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia should be relatively easy.
My transmission power is just 20.Approximately 25W
