BeToDoing As shown in the image, the tuning knob for the JAA shortwave amplifier is made of solid metal and has a substantial weight. The plastic surrounding it appears to be embedded somehow, but I'm wondering where I can purchase similar knobs. While there are similar ones available on Taobao (the Chinese online marketplace), most of them tend to be smaller in size and lack the solid feel of the original.
BD3OZV I made it myself using 3D printing. Internally, I embedded large nuts or stainless steel shims to act as weights, and created a high-fidelity version of the IC-718 knob. The total weight is approximately the same.
BD3OZV BeToDoing It's so heavy; does the knob shaft bear the load? 😂Consider JLC CNC; it's likely not going to be cheap.
