BA4TAQ I'm planning to install a 5.2m UV pole on the roof of my building, but I live in an area with relatively high buildings around me, and I'm concerned about being struck by lightning. What are some effective ways to prevent this?
BD8BDT If the weather is stormy and there are lightning strikes, simply disconnect the feed lines from the machine. If the antenna is struck by lightning, replace it with a new one.
Liridice If you don't have a grounding rod, you can install one yourself, making sure it is properly grounded. A coaxial lightning arrester can protect against some induction lightning strikes, such as those that strike half of a roof unit directly.
