I'm located in Shanghai, and I recently purchased a Moxon 8-element Yagi antenna. My goal is to use it for repeater communication from my dorm room balcony (approximately 20km range), but after using it, I'm not sure how to get the best results. After testing it on the rooftop of the sixth floor of my school, it performed worse than a cheap 1.3m telescopic antenna in terms of voice clarity. Furthermore, during use, I found that the Moxon 8-element Yagi sometimes performs better when pointed in a different direction than the repeater, emitting signals more effectively. I'm not sure why this is the case, so I would appreciate any advice from experienced users.
