It might perform better outdoors. In indoor or noisy environments, a good antenna and a well-tuned "donut" are essential. My experience with different types is as follows:
* Antennas without amplification: These don't work well; I can't receive any signals.
* Antennas with only amplification: The performance isn't great either, because the amplified signal overwhelms the receiver, making it difficult to filter out noise.
* Antennas with both amplification and tuning: This type performs best. The antenna has some selectivity in choosing signals, which is suitable for this chip. It works well with MW, SW, and FT8.
