The community has been supporting me for three years. For me, it's also a journey that began in 2019 and continues to this day.
People often say that the New Year should bring a fresh start, and both January 1st and Chinese New Year trigger many of my own reflections. Like most people, I review past experiences, which include both positive and negative aspects. Regardless, time never stops, and I am gradually moving towards a new stage in life.
During my twenties, I spent more than half of my time actively involved with the HamCQ community.
It all started on a hot summer day in 2014. At that time, my high school classmate LiCheng was deeply engrossed in a copy of "C Primer Plus, Fifth Edition." I curiously asked him, "Is this what programming is? Is this the book programmers read?" He nodded and said, "I'll show you later tonight." During our evening study session, he brought along a Lenovo laptop and opened a black interface. He typed in a few lines of code, and the screen displayed "Hello World!"
Later, I learned that the system was called ArchLinux, and he used the Vim editor to create a simple C language program. Over the next year, I heard about Raspberry Pi, Arduino, stepper motors, Bitcoin, etc., from him. Magazines like "Computer Weekly" and "Radio Electronics" also became regular reads for me in the library.
At that time, I used a Raspberry Pi and DuPont cable to transmit an FM signal for the first time in the classroom. The signal reached the sports field 300 meters away, and using a Coolpad phone and 3.5mm headphones as receiving devices, I was able to hear a song – "Leishang" by Jay Chou – transmitted via radio.
This experience had a profound impact on me. In the years that followed, I became a programmer and also an amateur radio enthusiast. It was my curiosity that drove me forward, leading me to explore a wider world.
However, the reality is that I don't have many friends who are involved in radio technology. It's often difficult for me to share my enthusiasm and discoveries with others. The world of technology is constantly evolving, with new trends like blockchain, AR, autonomous driving, and large language models emerging every year, leading to fluctuations in the market.
However, my career path seems to have always revolved around this community. Sometimes I ask myself: Am I "trapped" here?
The community's growth has far exceeded my initial expectations. The most noticeable observation is that whenever the service restarts, someone invariably asks with concern: "Has the community crashed again? Has it been attacked?" Currently, she is gradually approaching a daily active IP count of 5000, while my own resources are becoming increasingly limited.
I have been contemplating this situation for over a year. Previously, I temporarily closed the station for repairs due to certain circumstances, and during that time, I received much support and encouragement, which motivated me to continue moving forward.
Currently, the community has a stable technical infrastructure and also owns trademarks, software copyrights, WeChat official accounts, and related peripheral products. After multiple optimizations, the current operating costs are controllable, but ongoing effort is still required for content security audits and user feedback responses. As the responsible party of the community, I need to dedicate regular time to it.
After careful consideration, I believe that the community should gradually become independent of me personally, which may be beneficial for both her and my long-term development.
Community management isn't a one-time effort; therefore, I also hope that the relevant parties will consider establishing some basic guidelines:
If you are a university group interested in participating in operations, besides funding, you also need to balance your academic studies with club activities. We would appreciate it if you could provide records and personnel information related to radio-related activities over the past three years.
If you are a commercial entity, please feel free to contact me so that we can discuss the overall transfer matters, including the transfer of ownership and rights.
