wdham EFX is a good method, or try contacting people on the frequency to see if they can receive it; I felt that the transmission was sometimes good and sometimes bad today, which may have had some influence. I will ask a local contact for help. I will also try using direct feed.

Let's try FT8 first. I haven't been able to make contacts on SSB using 20W, but I was recently able to communicate with someone over 18000 km away using FT8.

It's still recommended to start with FT8 first. This allows you to assess your own reception and transmission capabilities, as FT8 can both receive and transmit. If you can achieve a good signal report (above -10 dB) from domestic stations, then consider SSB.
