The nanovna I bought last week arrived, and I've been trying to measure the standing wave on a few antennas.
A $10 thumb antenna with free shipping turned out to be better than I expected:

Eagle 775, repaired and re-glued:

Also, the original Sennheiser 8800 antenna has a strange standing wave pattern; it shouldn't be this high.

The data from the tests doesn't seem to match reality very well. I was wondering how other colleagues would test to get accurate results? Can the antenna not be placed directly on a table? I don't understand the concept of standing wave during the first test.
