I would like to ask everyone for recommendations on a handheld radio in the U/V band. My target price range is mainly between 500 yuan or 1000 yuan, with a maximum budget of no more than 1100 yuan.
Currently, there is not much information available about this type of equipment in South Korea. Recently, some people have started purchasing Quansheng's TK-11, but it seems that no one has yet been able to pass the Korean model certification test, and there may be some issues.
Additionally, I would also like to inquire about the current status of the Baofeng UV-5R. As we all know, it was once a classic model, but it is said to have been discontinued long ago. However, there seems to be quite a bit of stock still circulating in the market.
Many of the UV-5R units recently sold failed our official verification tests, leading to their disposal. This unusual situation – where "officially discontinued models are still widely available in the market with unstable quality" – has caused many users to question whether the majority of those circulating on the market are counterfeit or non-compliant products assembled with substandard components. Due to these concerns and the extremely low pass rate, most people are currently hesitant to purchase them.
Therefore, most people now choose the more affordable UV-K5, and I am also using this one myself.
My primary need is:
Portable, reliable in quality, ideally with a good reputation locally in China, and capable of passing verification testing based on the model number after being brought to South Korea.
The power should ideally be around 10W.
It must support an English menu interface (I can't understand Chinese characters, and it would also be inconvenient to introduce it in Korea).
My main radio right now is the UV-K5, which is actually quite sufficient. However, brands like ICOM are simply too expensive. I prefer radios that use new technologies and have reasonable prices.
I also noticed that the Winuo VR-N76 seems to have good reviews, but I'm curious about how the actual experience is.
