Recently, I was chatting with a friend outside of my usual circle, and he mentioned FT8. He asked if it was an abbreviation, and what its full name is.
At that time, I thought FT8 was just FT8, and it didn't have a full name; however, when I think back now, SSB is actually an abbreviation, so is FT8 also an abbreviation?
So, I looked it up and listed some commonly used abbreviations and their full names below.
- FT8: Franke-Taylor design, 8-FSK modulation
- SSB: Single-Sideband modulation
- CW: Continuous Wave or Continuous Waveform
- SSTV: Slow scan television
- ARDF: Amateur Radio Direction Finding
- USB: Upper Sideband
- LSB: Low Sideband
- FM: Frequency modulation
- AM: Amplitude Modulation
- RTTY: Radio-teletype
Everything else was normal, but in the FT8 section, there were two names listed.
are Steve Franke（K9AN）With Joe Taylor（K1JT）They are the inventors of the FT8 mode and also the authors of the WSJT software.
I hope that one day, amateur radio enthusiasts in China will be able to create their own version of ZhangMode or WangMode.
