YouLoop Small Ring Antenna Introduction
YouLoop It's a broadband small loop antenna, developed by Airspy, specifically designed for the medium wave band.(MW)With shortwave(SW)Frequency band design, suitable for SDR (Software-Defined Radio) receiving environments, particularly performing well in urban high-noise environments. The structure is simple, using an inverter plus a Balun configuration, allowing the project to replicate the antenna at the lowest possible cost.
🔧 Basic parameters
| Parameters | Description |
| Type | Passive Magnetic Loop Antenna |
| Frequency range | Approximately 0.5 MHz – 30 MHz |
| Antenna structure | Dual-ring structure (symmetric coupling) |
| Interface | SMA |
| Is power required? | No (completely passive) |
| Polarization method | The installation angle determines whether the polarization is horizontal or vertical. |
🧩 Structure and Features
- Double-ring structure design: By using a symmetrically coupled structure, it effectively suppresses common-mode interference.
- Wideband, uncalibrated: Covers both MW and SW ranges without manual tuning.
- Lightweight and portable: Suitable for outdoor use or setting up a simple listening station.
- High common-mode rejection capability: It has a natural effect of suppressing electromagnetic interference in urban environments.
- Source-less design: No power required, suitable for long-term deployment and remote listening systems.
🛠 Usage recommendations
- Using coaxial cables to connect the SDR can further enhance its interference resistance capabilities.
- Try to keep away from sources of high-frequency interference (such as Wi-Fi, LED lights, power adapters, etc.).
- The antenna ring can be supported by simple structures such as PVC pipes, tripods, and window sills.
- It is recommended to be used in conjunction with a high dynamic range receiver (such as the Airspy HF+) for optimal performance.
- Please note that the antenna is not waterproof.
- Warning: Transmitting with power exceeding 250 mW is prohibited. If you need to transmit, please use a high-power magnetic loop antenna such as the FT140-43.
