The heat-seal adhesive has a much higher dielectric constant than air, so it's possible that it's creating a circuit within your antenna (speculation).
Therefore, given the length of the antenna and the observed behavior, it seems like something is directly connected to the antenna port, which could produce some signal. However, the strange appearance between the main antenna and the reflector suggests a possible short circuit or other issue.
