Previously, this site used Alibaba Cloud OSS (Object Storage) + DCDN (Global Acceleration) to host static resources. This allowed for unlimited-rate access to images, improving the browsing experience.
However, as the number of resources increased, the average daily storage cost for this station gradually rose from 0.1 yuan to 3 yuan, with approximately 50 GB of data stored (including the "Five Five Festival" award data), and approximately 80 GB of data flowing out of OSS each month, along with approximately 120,000 requests.
As the community grew, we considered overall costs and replaced all image resources within the platform. We also limited request rates to 3Mbps while maintaining unlimited upload speeds. The technical implementation utilized Nginx proxying with the internal OSS Endpoint API, which saved on both request fees and data transfer fees from OSS.
These changes will reduce the speed at which image resources can be accessed, for example, in card displays or posts with images. However, they will not affect the loading speeds of the website homepage or profile pictures. During events such as the Chinese Amateur Radio Festival, bandwidth will be temporarily increased.
