BG7LZQ When using the UV-K6 handheld device, I haven't experienced any issues with charging or power supply.
Devices: I typically use two power banks: a 10000mAh green联 power bank with 22.5W charging (model PB507) and a 12000mAh Huawei power bank with 66W fast charging (model P0001). I also use a roughly 1m cable from an unknown brand with two Type-C to C connectors. When properly connected, both power banks can recognize and start charging the K6. However, there are some issues:
1. The charging port for the UV-K6 is located on the side. The port itself is recessed and has limited space (possibly to prevent water ingress from the side?). Larger cables at some connection points (typically thicker, higher-quality cables like those included with hard drive enclosures) may experience poor contact if they don't fully insert into the port, leading to intermittent charging or even triggering the device's built-in protection to stop charging. Try replacing the cable with a smaller connector head and test whether it can be inserted fully.
2. When charging via the TypeC interface, the UV-K6's power display is noticeably inaccurate and tends to overestimate the remaining charge. For example, when the battery shows 60% charge, it will likely jump directly to 80% or even higher, and then quickly return to the actual remaining charge once disconnected. Based on my experience, even after showing a full 100%, it still requires a significant amount of time for trickle charging; otherwise, it will rapidly decrease once disconnected. If the initial charge level is high, it may exhibit behavior where the battery immediately drops when disconnected, making it seem like no charge was actually added. To address this, you can try leaving it plugged in for a longer period to allow it to charge gradually. However, at this stage, some power banks may automatically stop charging due to excessively low charging power. You can try finding a low-power output mode on the power bank to use for charging (For example, with my Huawei power bank, double-clicking the display button will cause the battery indicator light to flash, indicating that it has entered a low-power output mode. Even though the output power is very low, it won't automatically stop outputting. I have tested this on my UV-K6 and it can charge in this state).
I hope these experiences will be helpful to you.
Also: I had previously considered using a power bank + fast charging lure + car cigarette lighter adapter to directly power the device with the power bank, but I never had time to try it. After seeing the original poster's post, I suddenly wanted to try this method. Could anyone who has tried this method please advise? Is it feasible from a technical standpoint? Are there any experiences that can be referenced?
