I kept it for six months, then took it out and let it sit in the sun to study the manual. I felt that the G90N was missing some features besides power.
Please note that a recent firmware upgrade for the G90N body: G90N firmware update on April 22, 2025.
Since the official website doesn't have instructions for the 90N, it shouldn't be like this. Below is the operation manual for G90 - Final Version (Revision 02), with the latest firmware:
The G90S offers two filter adjustment modes: center frequency mode and bandwidth mode.
1. Press the multifunction adjustment knob to switch between the two filter modes.
2. When selecting center mode: a message appears above the filter icon indicating "Cxxx" (where "xxx" is the center frequency value).
The C mode was not found, only the B mode exists, and the adjustment of the starting and ending frequencies of the filter, as well as the reset function, are missing. Therefore, the bandwidth cannot be directly adjusted; instead, it must be adjusted using the B mode to shift left and right, with the overlapping portion representing the effective bandwidth, which is very inconvenient.
FFT Scale: Spectrum reference level setting
Only "Auto" can be set; there are no other options.
3. Adjusting the volume and pitch of the CW side tone, requires entering the second function of the [KEY] button, short press to toggle options:
B500: CW Receive Bandwidth Setting (default is 500 Hz)
No menu/function available.
4. To access the second function of the "[ POW ]" button, please configure as follows:
B2400: The default bandwidth setting in SSB mode, indicating a bandwidth of 2.4 kHz.
No menu/function available.
The maximum functionality of the G90N is less than 10W, and this has been verified using a power meter. I previously experimented with the G90S, and it did not exceed 15W.
As I only operate SSB and CW, I have not tested the digital features. If there are any errors in the above information, or if my radio is malfunctioning, please let me know.
It's difficult to create a small but high-quality radio; I hope the manufacturer continues to work hard on this.
