Theoretically, this should be considered a successful POTA (Parks on the Air) contact. I didn't go to the park designated by the official POTA organization because it was too far away to drive to; I just wanted to relax. Instead, I went to a park near my home, which isn't really ideal for amateur radio communication due to a lot of people playing frisbee. I always worried about accidentally hitting my antenna. However, I eventually found a nice gazebo in the center of the park. My antenna is new, so this time I focused on the 20-meter band, starting with the simplest setup.
Equipment used: FT-891. The antenna is an MC-750 GP collinear, and I didn't use a manual antenna tuner. Instead, I manually adjusted the antenna with a SWR meter. Power comes from a car travel battery, providing 12V output for a cigarette lighter. This battery allows me to monitor power levels, which provides useful reference information.
The signal was very clear, even when transmitted to the US, and the sound quality was excellent. It was also very clear to communicate from South Florida to North Carolina or Texas. This time, I was able to reach Wales and London, and the 20-meter band performed well. SSB voice communication was smooth, but CW was not used much because I am still learning.
The FT-891 and its battery, the text on the battery screen isn't very clear, but it's generally readable.
