- The transmitting radio station transmits a 1750 Hz single tone activation signal to the repeater.
- The repeater confirms its activation status and transmits a CW ID (typically a predefined sequence of CW information) to announce that it is active.
- Within N seconds after the CW ID transmission (the maximum allowable reception time, configurable), the transmitting radio station can send SSTV signals.
