Background:
As a ham radio operator, I often make notes after each contact, but the computer suddenly crashed, and all my records disappeared. To avoid this, I usually upload my logs to LOTW, especially FT8 logs. Additionally, I can also log in to the QRZ website to synchronize with the logs I uploaded to LOTW. However, one day when I tried to download these logs, I encountered a problem.
First, the QRZ website has permission to download QSO records, which essentially means paying for a membership. It's difficult to do things without spending money! Second, the LOTW website offers free download services, but it only allows you to download QSL data. What is QSL? It refers to the data you upload after making contact. If your contact also uploads their data, and the two of you have consistent data, a mark indicating confirmation will appear in your QSO record. This is what constitutes a valid QSL record. However, many QSOs lack the confirmation from the other party, and LOTW does not provide download records for these cases. That's why I wrote this post to share the method.
Method:
It's very simple! Log in to the lotw website,https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/default ，
Enter your username and password. Click "1" to remember the QSO communication count indicated, then click "2" to enter the detailed query list page. Here you can view all QSO records.
There is a button on the left side of the website that allows you to download your QSL records. Clicking this button will take you to the settings page, where you can wait for the website to generate your QSL record. This is not what I need. I need all my QSO records.
Next, let's get to the point. Have you noticed the address bar in your browser? Copy the contents of the address bar and paste them into a text editor. Now, let's modify the content in the address bar.
Change the address bar to the following address:
https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/lotwreport.adi?login=呼号&password = login password&qso_query = 1&qso_qsl=no&qso_qsorxsince = 1900-01-01&qso_withown = yes
Change the red text to your own settings, login username, and login password. The "1900-01-01" refers to downloading records from this date onwards. You can leave it unchanged to indicate all records. Copy the modified website address from Notepad into the browser's address bar, click the "Enter" key on your keyboard, wait a moment, and the browser will automatically download the file named lotwraport.adi. This file can be opened with Notepad; it is a plain text file. When you open the file, you will see some of the following text: If the numbers indicated in the diagram are the same as the first few digits, the download will succeed. If they are different, please try again!
With this, all QSO downloads are complete. Now that we have the combined log file, we can import it into frequently used software like FT8. Restoring the combined log is simple!
