Ken I have an old, unused handheld radio and a D11 that's bricked. I don't want to spend time flashing it again. I recently bought a NanoVNA small antenna switch, and I need a case for my handheld radio to act as an equivalent ground plane for testing the antenna. So, I thought I could modify this D11. Although I know that the D11 case isn't designed for the UV band, it's better than nothing. A simple test showed that the readings seem slightly better than when the antenna is just sitting on a table or in my hand, so it was worth the effort.
Ken The main drawback: The D11 is different from typical ham radios, lacking a large metal frame. I placed a copper foil inside the case and connected it to the local network, but the test results felt similar regardless. It's essentially a toy, so I'm using it for now, and I plan to compare its performance with more professional equipment later by asking friends to help.
