When SQL (presumably a software or setting) is enabled, the audio will only play if the signal strength reaches a certain level. This allows you to mute and filter out noise. Enabling monitoring is equivalent to disabling SQL; regardless of the signal strength, the audio will be played through the speakers, resulting in noise.
The question you asked on the first floor is perfectly normal, so don't worry about it. It could also be that the other person had a background noise or echo enabled, which made it sound like there was a long period of silence between your messages.

kaibeile I'm not sure about this either, but my guess is that you haven't configured the side button to act as a toggle switch listener, while the original firmware's default side button function is indeed a toggle switch listener.
