I mounted a domestically produced 770 antenna on the outdoor unit of a window-mounted air conditioner using a magnetic base, along with the grounding accessory shown in the figure. The coaxial cable runs through the air conditioning duct and enters the room to connect to the equipment. Everything is working well.

Recently, the coaxial cable connector on the outdoor antenna broke, so I re-soldered a new one and reconfigured the antenna according to the original scheme. However, I encountered some very strange problems.
After setting it up, I found that I couldn't clearly receive a local repeater frequency; the background noise was very strong. After repeatedly adjusting, I discovered a strange phenomenon:
- I held the antenna in place by hand, and it was securely attached to the external unit using a magnetic base, which improved the signal.
- At the same location, when I hold the antenna horizontally, the signal deteriorates.
- At the same location, opening a window near the metal frame brought the antenna closer to the signal source, resulting in improved signal quality.
- Moving the antenna to the window sill improved the signal.
Therefore, I continued the experiment by removing the grounding components shown in the diagram and reattaching the magnetic base to the outdoor unit of the air conditioner. The signal was restored to normal.
I don't know what the reason is.
