Each type of connector has its own specific purpose, and simply choosing two wouldn't be enough. Moreover, most of the time, you choose a cable based on the device it's being connected to, which means there isn't always an option available.
Essentially, the M connector is based on historical convention and lacks a standard. Occasionally, the threads may not fit perfectly. Although it's not as well-designed as other connectors, the current M connector works perfectly in the 440 MHz band, meaning that for traditional amateur radio applications, the M connector is completely sufficient.
NC BNC is very convenient, and is the preferred choice for non-fixed and indoor applications. When used indoors, there's no need to worry about durability. However, it's not suitable for outdoor or fixed applications. TNC antennas are less common; if you need a threaded connection, N connectors are better.
If there's a choice, I would prefer to use threads N instead of M. The N-style locking mechanism is not common, and it doesn't seem necessary.
If there's a C, there must be a corresponding C. However, this is rare and I haven't used it before.
SM and SMA connectors are typically used for smaller devices. There's no need to save space with larger connectors. I haven't used the other two types (I think there might be an IC-7300 using one, or perhaps it uses MCX?).
