Does anyone have a HAM to share their experience of listening to shortwave broadcasts during the ARRL competition using the UV88 or K6?

I'm currently deciding between the UV88 and a modified K6. I would like to understand the shortwave listening performance of these two handheld radios. I'd also like to hear from other HAM radio operators who have used both radios.

You said you want to receive properly. You can't just use that small antenna on your handheld, right?
At the very least, let's get a shortwave antenna.
