It's not just about amateur radio; for example, at my university (a normal school), there are quite a few female students majoring in computer-related fields... However, after graduation, they may still prefer to pursue careers related to computers (such as programming education or management and operations roles) rather than directly working as developers... There is indeed a significant difference in their interests.
There is indeed a difference, and the reasons are hard to pinpoint... One might choose to pursue an amateur radio license or study computer science, at least because it would have sparked some interest. However, perhaps the key lies in sustaining that initial interest...
