A brief record of the Huashan Tonglian event on December 8, 2024
Time: Depart at 8:00 AM on December 8th, return at 5:30 PM.
Location: Hua Shan – Alchemy Furnace
Radio equipment: YAESU FT891
Antenna: Portable Pull-Out V-type GP
Other equipment (excluding the radio): a table, three batteries.
Personnel: BH9EWR, BH9FSR, BH9BXH, BH9EWV, BH9FJM, BH9FRP, BH9FRB (a group of seven people)
One interesting point during the process: I'm not sure whether it was a rented power bank or something else, but from around 1:00 AM, when the antenna was set up, the signal remained unstable and interfered heavily, making it difficult to achieve effective QSOs. However, the U-band performed well, connecting with many stations.
Important points to note: Due to an unexpected injury to one of the team members, we were unable to reach the pre-determined location. The desired location was significantly better than the area around the alchemy furnace; it was less crowded, with fewer distractions, and offered more space.
Mistake: Too much equipment was carried.
Subsequently: In the spring of next year, we will streamline our equipment and try to have each person carry their own backpack. We will also eliminate bringing large capacity batteries and tables.
