A personal journey of learning through self-directed action.
As someone who is accustomed to using pre-made ham, and who is limited by their professional constraints and their own subjective initiative,
I'm not used to handling amateur radio operations on my own. The six months of silence have made me question myself.
The sudden surge in interest was also a way for me to test myself, so I decided to start by expanding the UV-K5/K6.
For some ham radio operators, this is a routine task or something very simple to do. For me, however, it was a daunting challenge before I decided to expand my setup.
Write down these words, on one hand to summarize some of the lessons learned during the operation process, and on the other hand, to encourage more amateur radio operators to start with simple hands-on operations and try to solve one problem after another.
Note: Some of the procedures described in the text were taken from videos of other ham radio operators due to my own focus during operation. These are marked at the end of the text.
Preparation before operation
Soldering iron (model T12-A), screwdriver, multimeter (model DEM11), flux, solder wire, solder paste (recommend to choose either solder wire or solder paste), expansion chip (search for M24M02 on Taobao)
I knew my skills were limited, so I decided to buy ten chips at once. As expected, I successfully damaged and discarded two of them.(Losing a meal of rice noodles)
Tips:
Regarding soldering irons, according to the relevant introduction on Bilibili, new users should pay attention to the following when starting to use them:
① Absolutely do not touch the metal welding handle with your hand after heating, as it will be extremely hot.
② It is best to have a sponge on hand before using it. I've included one in the package, so please add water to the area where you will be placing the soldering iron for easy wiping. Please do not use your hands or any other object to wipe it.
③ Rosin acts similarly to a flux, making it convenient for soldering. I also included a box of rosin when sending this (please don't interpret as a type of fragrance).

When disassembling a motherboard, you inevitably have to deal with audio cables. If you accidentally pull one off the mainboard end, you'll need to use a soldering iron to solder it back on securely.
(If you want to pry open the screen and motherboard, slowly loosen and move the latch that is furthest away, then gently rock it left and right.)
For me, the two biggest challenges I've faced are:
① The five screws connecting the aluminum cover are too difficult to remove; ② It's impossible to solder and desolder chips.
As for the first one, I think my screwdriver was a bit too small and difficult to remove, so if I needed to tighten screws, using a larger-headed screwdriver would be more convenient.

Highlight a technique! It involves rocking the component back and forth, applying solder paste or flux, to "scrape" the chip off.
The rest is much simpler.
Overall, the most challenging aspects of this work involve disassembling screens, removing screws, and soldering.
However, looking back, it wasn't actually that difficult.
Therefore, if you have the ability to do so, I strongly recommend that those who are still hesitant or considering options should try doing it themselves.
