Q: What is the WAEDC competition?
A: WAEDC stands for Worked All Europe DX Contest, which is a pan-European contest organized by Germany. The competition takes place over two full weekends each year: CW in the second weekend of August, SSB in the second weekend of September, and RTTY in the second weekend of November.
Q: What was the participation like this year?
A: Due to the timing of this competition coinciding with the Mid-Autumn Festival, which resulted in limited online time and tight schedules for participants, the Jincheng Association's collective station BD3UY still supported participation. I would like to express my gratitude to BD3UY and the leaders, logistics staff, and participants of the Jincheng Association.
Thanks to their participation in previous competitions, BD3UY has gained some familiarity with the "wireless communication" category within the broader competition. Their primary goal this time was to further immerse themselves in the competitive atmosphere, familiarize themselves with the operations of international-level competitions, and understand the differences in speech speed and accents among radio enthusiasts from different countries.
Q: Besides participating in the competition, what else did you do?
A: As for this, it was a nationwide event involving group meals, the "8+1" initiative, and discussions about various topics. However, we also did some other things, such as carefully listening to the development situation and future plans for the Jinzhong region; understanding the specific radio skills and technologies that were urgently needed locally; and providing direct, hands-on technical guidance to enthusiasts regarding their weaknesses in operating radio data patterns.
