The infrared receiver used for exams was an Audiosense DS-2216. Later, I bought a transmitter from the manufacturer and started experimenting with it myself.
Currently, they seem to be relatively rare. Infrared modulated audio is primarily used to prevent signal leakage. Providing dedicated receivers can also prevent cheating with general-purpose devices. Of course, there must also be some underlying interests.
