The FT-710 has finally arrived, and I really like it. However, since I want to use it both in my dorm room and at my desk, I was thinking of using my laptop (A) in the dorm and having a separate computer (B) at my desk.
First, install the rcforb server on the computer in your dorm room. At the same time, use software like Hole Punch or Daisy to configure port forwarding (if you have enough free credits, this is sufficient), or if you have a server, use SSH port forwarding. Then, install the rcforb client on your office computer. You can access Cybertune Radio through the mapped public IP address. At this point, you will only see one Cybertune Radio interface, not the radio display screen, but you can still hear and send audio.
The F-710 has a DIV output interface, allowing you to install a video capture card on computer A. Then, using remote software such as todesk, you can access the desktop of computer A and also open the rcforb client on computer A. This allows you to view the F-710 display through todesk and control the 710, as well as hear and send (untested) audio.
Using rcforb to operate the radio ultimately didn't provide convenient direct control of the display (e.g., quick spectrum jumping). Fortunately, the 710 supports mouse input. If you can set up a system similar to pikvm hardware, output the radio's display to KVM, and also have KVM output a HID mouse and keyboard, then connect KVM to the router. This would give you two options:
1. Connect to KVM on computer A, and then use Todesk to directly control computer A to perform comprehensive operations.
2. Configure the router to set up port forwarding/redirection, and use the IP address obtained through external network mapping/redirection to view the radio station's display screen. Simultaneously, control the radio station using mouse and keyboard, while also using the rcforb client for primary control.
Currently, we are using the second approach. We have mapped two ports of rcforb to the internet via a Hazelnut mapping on computer A. Additionally, we use KVM and routing forwarding to achieve mouse and keyboard control as well as display output.
I bought a Xiaomi smart plug for 49 RMB + a div-HDMI connection cable for 5.9 RMB, a KVM + USB capture card for 91 RMB, and a Xiaomi router + Ethernet cable for 40 RMB, totaling less than 200 RMB.
I'll wait a few days to see how KVM works.
