Located at No. 70, Lu Bei District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, this primary school is the first in Tangshan City to pilot wireless sports and is recognized as a leading educational institution for science and technology. Since 2018, it has organized various activities related to wireless communication, including Morse code transmission, radio direction finding, and wireless communication, with a focus on wireless sports as a core activity.
This year, during the "Fifth Five Festival," I was honored to be appointed as the external mentor for the school's amateur radio club, working alongside local amateur radio enthusiasts and children to celebrate the holiday.
The activity began, and the adorable children tied red scarves around the necks of the two external mentors. The moment they put on the red scarves, I felt like it was over ten years ago again, just like them, joining the "Science Group" that our primary school had established at the time, planting seeds of science, exploration, and innovation. Many years later, when I put on the red scarf again, in a different role with different responsibilities!
After the ceremony, I will share with everyone the historical origins of "Fifth Five," and guide the children to understand the struggles of the pioneers of wireless communication.
During the radio communication phase, we successfully completed a QSO with Shandong BI4JUS and Hebei BD3OKV at 7050 kHz. Under supervision and guidance, the children experienced short-term operation of a radio station. (Note: According to regulations, individuals who have not obtained a "Ham Radio Operator Certificate" must have undergone basic training, including regulations, and receive on-site guidance from the radio station manager before participating in practical QSO operations within the scope of their license, for a limited time.)
Local experts share their experiences with radio technology, explaining how to use and operate various radio testing and measurement instruments and equipment.
In reality, the development of amateur radio relies on the continuous efforts and dedication of veteran enthusiasts. Whether it's through technical innovation in frequency bands or the vibrant exchange of ideas during events, their passion and expertise have been invaluable. Through this event, we hope that the spirit of amateur radio will take root in the hearts of children, fostering their love for exploration, innovation, and practical application in their future studies, work, and lives!
