Don't buy SDRs; you have to turn on your computer every time you listen, which is a hassle. Eventually, it just becomes frustrating.
I bought a Panda 6130, which cost around 100 yuan (or about 90 yuan secondhand), it has a digital display and is well-made. It uses DSP decoding, covers the entire frequency range (but doesn't support SSB), and uses a BL-5C Nokia battery. The battery still has full charge and lasts for over a year. I bought it as an emergency backup radio. (I don't like radios with both power output and flashlight functions because they are bulky and difficult to carry, and the quality is often poor. It's better to buy a separate flashlight.)
