I don't know if anyone has specifically compared the UV-4R and AR-55A, both of which have valid DMR license numbers. I chose the AR-55A based on a recommendation from Chengdu M, and because Century Golden Yu, as a QSL card issuing authority, is also well-known. However, I found that the software user experience design for the AR-55A was really poor, with illogical organization of many menus and an unconventional design for entering frequencies compared to typical amateur radios. Fortunately, its basic analog and digital communication capabilities are still good, and it has sufficient power. The built-in Chinese input method and channel partitioning storage functions are also practical. As a beginner DMR device, it is a good choice.
