The FT-60R has been in use for over ten years, and the original battery is no longer reliable. I sometimes use a battery pack with alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries, but this requires frequent battery changes, as I'm afraid of damaging the plastic battery clips through excessive use. When using NiMH rechargeable batteries, I'm concerned about compatibility issues with the original battery parameters, and I also avoid directly connecting DC power to charge the battery through the body of the radio, only charging it separately.
I have also seen third-party solutions using lithium batteries or 18650 cells for power. I would like to know, what do you all think is the best battery solution for the FT-60R? I want a solution that doesn't require constantly adjusting the battery clip and also allows for safe charging.
