I currently have three handheld radios. The first is a K6, which I primarily use for flashing firmware and experimenting with modifications. I've expanded its capabilities by purchasing an AIOC connector to enable FT8 and APRS operation. The second radio is a Motorola GP338, which was successfully used by a local ham operator. It has good sensitivity but is quite heavy, so it's currently unused. The third radio is an 8600 Pro. I recently acquired one after seeing them available for sale. I had been considering the 8800 due to its appearance and comprehensive features, but I felt that functions like a flashlight were unnecessary. When the 8600 Pro was released, it perfectly met my needs. Now, this radio is my primary unit; I take it with me wherever I go. It's lightweight and portable, has good sensitivity, and can operate at up to 8 watts of power, allowing me to easily connect to repeaters and communicate with local stations when traveling.
The above is just for reference. I haven't used the UV5RH, so there's no comparison. If you can only afford one device, I recommend considering functionality first. This applies to your first device as well. As you use it more and gain experience, you'll gradually understand your actual needs. I even think you could start with a K6 that costs around 100 yuan/RMB to try out many features and see what you actually use the most, then purchase your main device.
