Based on your interests and hobbies, I've summarized the three main routes for obtaining an A license based on my understanding.
1. Local repeater/direct-to-frequency setup: one UV K5/K6 is sufficient (under 100 yuan), or you can buy a feedline + glass fiber pole + vehicle mount (Freedom778UV RMB600, feedline RMB 100 (10 meters), power supply RMB100, antenna RMB 100).
*This largely depends on your preferences; whether you enjoy local amateur radio activity. Even the busiest repeater typically has only a few dozen people, and tends to have an older demographic.And you will encounter some users who are "not so enthusiastic about using radios" (such as rescue teams and racing teams, and even to communicate with construction site canteens and KTVs to increase your blood pressure).), if you don't enjoy local activities for a while, you might get bored and quit. However, if you are outgoing and sociable, you can easily integrate into the local HAM community, where you can receive guidance from experienced HAMs. After all, it's much easier to learn from someone nearby than from someone far away.
2. Satellite communication requires a radio capable of communicating with satellites plus a Yagi antenna. There are many types of radios available, and the K5 is one of the most affordable options. The Yagi antenna, according to JYR, costs RMB 350 (larger size) or RMB 170 (smaller size). The remaining budget can be used to purchase your preferred radio.
The domestic satellite community is quite large, and the satellite groups are also very active. If you have enough space, time, and energy to dedicate to it, you can achieve a good long-term experience.
3. MMDVM route, requires a radio with digital mode capability + an MMDVM box.
You need a digital radio (or a hybrid digital/analog radio) that supports MMDVM, such as the BaoFeng 1701 with an MMDVM box.
I have created my own open-source MMDVM box (you can find it in my previous posts) + a used Raspberry Pi. If you build it yourself, it should cost around 200 yuan/RMB. For the standard version, it's approximately 300 yuan/RMB.
*Personally, I think that some fancy interfaces are completely useless and should be removed, as they actually increase the purchase price.*
**MMDVM might not be a traditional radio, as it only covers short-range communication. The rest would be internet communication. If you don't like it, you can ignore it, and save the money for your shortwave radio.
If you already have a local digital repeater connected to the China group, you may not need to purchase the box.
Specifically, 1.2.3 is not a case of choosing one out of three; for example, the BaoFeng 1701 can be flashed with OPEN GD77 to cover both your local repeater and MMDVM, as well as satellite communication, but this comes at the cost of being unable to use the BaoFeng 1701 on the Chinese license. You will need to have another radio available to activate your license.
If you want all three, you could consider the K5 (80 yuan) + BaoFeng 1701 (300 yuan) + RSJ antenna (170 yuan) + MMDVM box (300 yuan) + assorted connectors and cables (100 yuan) + Crazy Friday (50 yuan), which would use up your entire 1000 yuan budget.
