I researched for a long time, but eventually gave up. The reason I gave up was:
1. The main reason is that the machines are simply too old. Most of those available are from 1998, and the 847 model was essentially discontinued by the end of 2001 or early 2002. Newer models are already over 20 years old. If you don't know how to repair them, don't even consider buying one.
2. Side effects of using very old equipment: Various configurations are inconvenient, such as an incomplete CAT, the absence of a sound card, and even interfaces that are not compatible with later Yaesu products. All cables need to be found separately because of the UV band communication method, which makes it difficult to connect to computers and use machines with incomplete CATs.
3. Shortwave radios are for the deaf: While marketed as a full-mode machine, the actual design is that of a UV radio. The UV function is very powerful, but shortwave reception is weak. Of course, no one would actually buy an 847 specifically for shortwave reception... right?
