Recently, I've noticed that the official DMRS (Digital Mobile Radio System) repeaters in Beijing have been consistently unmaintained, resulting in no signal and a lack of usable DMRS repeaters within the city. After seeing reports from hams in other areas about their frustrating experiences with local repeaters and the challenges of connecting to a nationwide network, I started wondering if it would be possible for me to set up my own repeater.
Currently, there are two directions.
1. The PDT cluster can be directly compatible with standard DMRS repeaters.
2 Standard DMRS repeaters.
The two prices could differ by several thousand yuan.
Most features are achievable, including dual slot operation, local Beijing-to-national network connectivity, and the MMDVM46001 group. The PDT cluster might offer a better experience.
Another important consideration is the legal feasibility of obtaining a license for an amateur radio repeater, including whether it can be registered under a personal name.
