I purchased a 3-meter long, 50-3 silver-plated feed line online yesterday. Today, I had some free time and decided to solder it myself, while also documenting the process of soldering the end of the feed line.
The materials needed to prepare initially include a cable stripper, wire cutter, 50-3 coaxial cable, scissors, knife, soldering iron, and solder.



Since my radio antenna output interface is a BNC connector, and I'm using an M-type connector for the antenna, today I was soldering both BNC male connectors and M male connectors. The BNC connectors used here are L-shaped, and there are differences in the soldering points, but the overall process is similar.
First, we need to strip the insulation. Before stripping, it's crucial to accurately locate the cut points (first, the adhesive layer position, then the shielding net position, and finally, the center conductor position). Second, before stripping, you must always first insert the heat shrink tubing and shielding cable into the center conductor. Otherwise, once you strip the insulation, it will be very difficult to re-insert them.

Please note: You must always use a clamp first, and then peel back the insulation!

Because the cable is too flexible, the wire stripper is completely useless. In the end, a knife had to be used to solve the problem... Of course, if you have the resources, you can buy a better wire stripper, or cut the cable before stripping it. However, it's important to note that after stripping the insulation, it's best to compare the cut positions of the shielding net and the core; then, separately cut off the excess parts of the shielding net and the core layer.

Finally, the components would be arranged in this general configuration. Then, I would insert them into the connector of the feed line, and check to make sure that the wire cores are properly inserted into the pins of the feed line connector. After that, I would adjust the position of the shielding net. Once everything is adjusted correctly, I can then attach the feed line with a cable jacket.

Here, it's important to ensure that the tubing doesn't have any excess wire sticking out after being installed. Once you confirm that everything is correct, you can use a cable crimping tool to crimp the wires. Make sure to choose the right size of crimping tool, otherwise either the tool will get stuck or the cable won't be properly secured.

Once the crimping is complete, you can start soldering the feed wire core. Here's a suggestion: choose lead-free solder wire and a soldering iron with high power and heat output to avoid issues like cold joints or other unexpected problems later on.

This is because I used the wrong solder wire, and the soldering iron temperature was also too low (because both the wire and the tip are made of pure copper, which has high thermal conductivity... so most of the heat from the soldering iron is dissipated). I tried again a few more times, and it worked. After soldering, you can also test the connection to make sure there are no problems. Finally, just put the cover back on (there's a white pad underneath the cover that you need to use).

Finally, solder the other end, and a complete feed line will be ready.
