On April 13th, I received an invitation from the Jiangsu Provincial Radio and Amateur Sports Association, as well as Nanjing Hexi Foreign Language School, to participate in a public education event on amateur radio. During this event, I will use amateur satellites to communicate with enthusiasts across different regions (QSO), and local HAMs will provide technical support on-site.
April 15th, Saturday. The RCC team conducted a rehearsal of the event on-site. As everyone knows, this year's WAPC SSB is also on April 16th. During the downtime (i.e., when no satellites are passing overhead), with such excellent equipment available, we definitely need to use it!🤪

Which band should I participate in? Considering that it's an event, time is limited. Also, the participants in this competition are mainly domestic radio stations, and my friends often communicate on the 20-meter band during the day. Taking these factors into account, I finally chose to use the 20-meter single-band. The RCC eight-element antenna is mounted on a tower, and as everyone knows, for long-distance communication, it's best to mount the antenna at a higher height, while for short-distance communication, a lower height is preferred to achieve a higher elevation angle. Therefore, I didn't raise the tower at all. Since Jiangsu is in the East China region, to cover most of the country, the antenna was pointed towards 270.

After going on air, the 20-meter band was very active and WAPC was attracting a lot of attention. I found a good spot to set up my station, pressed F1, and immediately started transmitting. In the afternoon, I had some great QSOs with domestic radio stations, and even managed to achieve a few PileUps within a short period, which was very satisfying.
Since the primary focus of this event was on the main theme, competitions could only be incorporated during free time. Ultimately, my participation in various activities wasn't extensive, but it was all about being involved!

After this competition, my overall impression is that most of the participating stations are domestic radio stations. Foreign radio stations also largely consist of "Asian Three Treasures": JA, YB, and DU. What was surprising is that a CE radio station also participated in this competition. Regarding the domestic radio stations, I am pleased to see that several new call signs have appeared, which indicates that amateur radio is becoming increasingly recognized by more people. Furthermore, among those who can operate shortwave radios, there are more and more people interested in DX and competitions, which will positively contribute to increasing the influence of Chinese amateur radio on the world.
I hope everyone can enjoy amateur radio and experience the joy that it brings. I wish you all a wonderful time at the upcoming "Five Five" communication event!
