Everyone is using shortwave now, so you don't need to consider different types; just buy one type of antenna. If you have money, buy a better, more expensive one; if you don't have money, buy a standard or DIY one. Different environments require different antennas for shortwave. If you plan to use it outdoors, buy a V-shaped pull-down antenna and then separately purchase a GP base and ground wire to create a pull-down GP antenna. Then, buy a Balun or a 20 or 40 meter feedline; with the antenna, everything is complete. Finally, you need a battery: if it can handle heavy loads, buy a large outdoor power supply; if not, buy a standard mobile power supply that's about the same size as your radio.
