Requirements for amateur radio station call signs and issuance from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)
The type of radio (call sign second part) consists of a single letter, used to distinguish call sign suffixes or indicate certain specific types of amateur radio stations. The letters G, H, I, D, A, B, C, E, F, K, and L are used for general amateur radio call signs; the letter J is used for space-based amateur radio call signs; and the letters R are used for amateur repeater and beacon call signs. Call signs for amateur radio stations consisting of the letters S, T, Y, Z, and other letter sequences are reserved by the national radio management agency.
