Jiangsu HAM Outdoor Day - 2024 Jiangsu Province VHF Long-Distance Communication Competition Announcement
To celebrate the upcoming VHF band propagation season and enrich amateur radio activities throughout Jiangsu Province, the Jiangsu Provincial Association will hold the "Jiangsu HAM Outdoor Day - 2024 Jiangsu VHF Long-Distance Communication Competition" in June. We encourage schools, organizations, and individual amateur radio enthusiasts within Jiangsu Province to actively register and participate, working together to explore the unique propagation characteristics of the VHF band.
I. Event Time:
From 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Beijing time, June 1st, 2024, to 4:00 PM on June 2nd, 2024.
II. Participants:
1、Personal station (amateur radio enthusiasts within a specific province who have obtained VU segment operation licenses)
2. Team Base (Schools or associations, clubs, etc., within a province that have designated radio call signs, consisting of at least three people)
3. We sincerely invite associations and individual enthusiasts from neighboring provinces and cities to participate.
III. Using the Band:
1. The 1.2-meter band (144-146 MHz, selected based on the frequency range permitted by national and local radio management regulations)
2. The 6-meter band (using frequency ranges permitted by national and local radio management regulations, some areas are not allowed to use)
3. 40 MHz band (7050-7110 kHz, for auxiliary communication; requires shortwave operation qualification; communication does not count towards the scoring range)
IV. Communication Mode:
1、Standard Mode: CW, SSB, FM (Other amateur radio modes can be selected according to regulations, and communication protocols should be agreed upon.)
2、 Experimental modes: FT4, FT8, MSK144, and other low-signal modes (referring to internationally recognized frequencies, modes, and operating standards)
3. Amateur Satellite Communication: Use amateur satellites equipped with VU-band frequency modulation (FM) or linear forwarders to enable two-way communication. The frequencies and modes are set according to the parameters of the satellite's forwarder, and the amateur satellite communication must comply with relevant regulations.
V. Competition Rules:
1. Schools, associations, organizations, or activity groups in various cities with the necessary conditions can form a team radio station and register for the competition platform. This team will take on the role of the platform, and use as many modes and frequency bands as possible to respond to all participating radio stations' calls.
2. We recommend using electronic logbooks like N1MM and exporting the final log file. Separate scores should be submitted for the 2-meter, 6-meter, and satellite communication bands; mixed submissions are not accepted.
3. Strictly adhere to the regulations and international etiquette of the Union, and be sure not to occupy the DX call frequency for an extended period. Once a response is received, be sure to switch to another nearby frequency to confirm. Individual or team radios should select frequencies within the specified range; all stations should avoid calling on frequencies such as 144.110 and 50.110, which are used for DX calls.
4. The modulation mode for communication should be selected according to the frequency band specifications; for example, low-band frequencies should use CW or SSB, while high-band frequencies should use FM.
5. Attempt to establish communication with as many radio stations as possible within the specified frequency band and time frame, and also attempt to connect with more distant radio stations.
6. The communication content includes the other party's call sign, signal report, grid number, QTH (location), etc.
7. The frequencies used for weak signal communication modes such as FT4 and FT8 should refer to international agreements, comply with operating regulations, and use the minimum power level as much as possible within the scope of the operator's license.
8. When using amateur satellite communication, the process should be concise and clear. When using a frequency-hopping forwarder, avoid prolonged use of the uplink frequency, and adhere to international etiquette. Other non-amateur satellite communications should avoid using the uplink and downlink frequencies used by amateur satellites.
9. Teams requiring outdoor deployment should ideally set up their equipment in sparsely populated areas, such as high mountains or locations with favorable electromagnetic environments. When deploying outdoors, please prioritize personal safety; team members should take appropriate precautions and protect the environment while participating in activities.

Six. Scoring Rules:
1. 144 MHz, 50 MHz, and satellite communication are scored separately according to their respective scoring rules. Shortwave communication is not scored.
2. For 144 MHz, 50 MHz, and satellite communication on the same frequency and with the same call sign, regardless of the mode or number of transmissions, it is counted as a single connection.
3. Basic Score: Each radio station receives 10 points (including coefficient stations), based on the total number of radio stations operated by Tonglian.
4. Communicate with designated coefficient stations throughout the province. The basic score is multiplied by the coefficient, and each station awards 10 points. The call sign for the coefficient station activity will be announced in advance.
5. Total score = basic score(Number of contact stations)10)。
VII. Rewards:
1. Individuals and teams who submit their transportation log within the specified time will receive a commemorative certificate (electronic certificate) for this communication competition, and can participate in the ranking. The top three teams will also receive commemorative medals.
2. After filling in the relevant data within the app and submitting the log file, please refer to the attachment for the app code.
3. The individual and team rankings for all submitted logs will be publicly displayed on the official WeChat account of the provincial association.
3、 Deadline for receiving logs: June 15, 2024.
VIII. Registration for Coefficient Table:
1. The deadline for registration is from today until May 28th. Please register online through the provincial association's mini-program.
2. All participants must use the call sign assigned during registration and participate in the event throughout.
3. Teams using the individual call sign registration system are restricted to operations by the person holding the call sign; other team members should use their own call signs if they need to participate in communication.
4. Each city can report 1 to 2 coefficient tables.
5. The coefficient table will be publicly disclosed on the WeChat official account of the provincial association before the competition.
