2024 CQ Global WPX Contest

I. Purpose:
During the competition, amateur radio enthusiasts from around the world can contact as many other enthusiasts and prefixes as possible.
II. Operational Period:
48 hours. A single operator can operate for 36 hours out of the 48-hour period – the shutdown time must be at least 60 minutes, during which no QSOs are recorded. Multiple operator workstations can operate for the entire 48 hours.
III. The Band:
Can only use the 1.8, 3.5, 7, 14, 21, and 28 MHz frequency bands. It is strongly encouraged to adhere to the established band plans.
IV. The Exchange:
RS（T）The report includes a cumulative sequence number for the first contact point, starting from 001. Note: Multiple contacts, multiple restrictions, and multiple distributions use separate sequence numbers within each band.
5. Rating:
A. Score: The final score is the result of multiplying the total QSO points by the number of different prefixes processed.
B. QSO Points: A radio station can earn QSO points by operating in a specific band once.
The contact values between sites on different continents are 28, 21, and 14 MHz.（3）One point, and six on 7, 3.5, and 1.8 MHz.（6）One point.
The contact values between radio stations on two different countries within the same continent are 28, 21, and 14 MHz.（1）two points at 1 and 7, 3.5 and 1.8 MHz（2）One point. Exception: For North American radio stations, the contact points between stations within the North American border (both stations must be located in North America) are 28, 21, and 14 MHz.（2）Each point, as well as the four at 7, 3.5, and 1.8 MHz.（4）One point.
The value of connecting radio stations within the same country is 1 point, regardless of the frequency band.
C. Prefix Multiplier: The prefix multiplier represents the number of valid prefixes. Each prefix is counted only once, regardless of its frequency or operating count within a specific band.
The prefix is a combination of letters and numbers that forms the first part of a ham radio callsign. For example: N8, W8, WD8, HG1, HG19, KC2, OE2, OE25, LY1000, etc. Any difference in the same number, letter, or sequence should be considered as a separate prefix. Radio stations operating under DXCC entities different from their callsign must sign a portable agreement. Portable prefixes must be authorized prefixes for the country/calling area. In portable operation, the portable indicator will become the prefix. Example: N8BJQ operating from Wick Island will sign N8BJ Q/KH9 or N8BJ-Q/NH9. KH6XXX operating from Ohio must use the authorized prefix for the 8th region of the United States (e.g., /W8, /AD8). A portable indicator without a number will be assigned a zero (Ø) after the second letter to form the prefix. For example: PA/N8BJQ will become PAØ. All callsigns without numbers will have a zero (Ø) assigned as a prefix in the first two letters. Example: XEFTJW will be considered XEØ. Maritime mobile, mobile, /A, /E, /J, /P, or other license category identifiers are not considered prefixes.
Two encourages participation in special events, commemorative events, and other unique prefix stations. The prefix must be issued or authorized by the licensing authority of the operating country.
6. Categories for participation:
All categories allow the use of QSO alert assistance, except for the classic coverage mode operated by a single operator.
A. Single Operator Category: One operator performs all operations and recording functions. Band changes are unrestricted. Only one signal is allowed to be transmitted at any time.
1. Single operator, high power (full-band or single-band): Total output power shall not exceed 1500 watts.
2. Single operator, low power (full band or single band): Total output power shall not exceed 100 watts.
3. Single operator QRP (full band or single band): Total output power shall not exceed 5 watts.
B. Category Coverage for a Single Operator: Any single operator meeting the requirements can input one of the following categories by adding the appropriate CATEGORY-OVERLAY line in the Cabrillo log file header, as shown below. The category entries will be listed separately in the results and grouped by high power and low power (including QRP).
1. Right triangle/individual component (TB-line): During the competition, participants are only allowed to use one.（1）A three-band transceiver (of any type, with a single feed line from the transmitter to the antenna) for distances of 10m, 15m, and 20m, as well as 40m, 80m, and 160m. Separate receiving antennas are not permitted in this category.
2. Rookie: To qualify for this category, operators must have achieved three（3）Amateur radio licenses for individuals with one or more years of experience. The date on which the operator first obtained their license must be indicated in the SOAPBOX field. Operators who have won prizes in any previous CQ contest are not eligible to enter the novice category.
3. Classic Operation: Contest participants are only allowed to use one radio, and can operate for a maximum of 24 hours out of the 48-hour period. Rest periods must be at least 60 minutes long, during which no QSOs will be logged. If the log shows operation exceeding 24 hours, only the first 24 hours' coverage score will be calculated. No QSO alert assistance (as per Rule IX.B) is permitted during the competition. Receiving and transmitting are also prohibited.
4. Teenagers: The operator must be under 25 years old at the start of the competition. Please specify the date of birth in the SOAPBOX field.
C. Multi-operator category (for all bands only): More than one person can contribute to the final results during official competitions. Choose a category based on the number of transmitted signals or locations.
1. Single transmitter（MULTI-ONE）: At any time, only one signal can be sent. Within any hour (from 00 to 59 minutes), a maximum of ten signals can be transmitted.（10）Change in frequency band. For example, changing from 20 meters to 40 meters and then back to 20 meters is considered two changes in frequency bands. Use a single sequence number for the entire log.
a. The total output power of each transmission signal with high power shall not exceed 1500 watts.
b. Low power: The total output power of each transmitted signal shall not exceed 100 watts.
2. Dual Transmitters (MULTI-Two): At any time, allow sending up to two signals on two different frequency bands. Both transmitters can operate on any radio station. Regardless of which transmitter is used, each frequency band can only operate one radio station. The log must indicate which transceiver (CQ Contest CABRILLO QSO template, column 81) produced each QSO. Each transmitter can make a maximum of eight（8）Frequency band changes. Use separate sequence numbers for each frequency band. The total output power of each transmitted signal shall not exceed 1500 watts.
3. Multi-UNLIMITED: Can transmit up to six signals simultaneously, one per frequency band. Allows activation of six bands at the same time. Each band uses a separate sequence number. The total output power for each transmitted signal shall not exceed 1500 watts.
4. Multi-Distributed: Up to six signals transmitted from different locations, with one signal per frequency band each time. All devices (transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, antennas, etc.) must be located within the same DXCC entity and CQ zone, including remote control equipment. Six bands can be activated simultaneously. Use a separate sequence number for each band. The total output power of each transmitted signal shall not exceed 1500 watts. The Cabrillo log header must include the following lines: CATEGORY-OPERATOR:MULTI-OP, CATEGORY-STATION:DISTRIBUTED. Rule 10. Rules E and F do not apply to this category.
D. Review Logs: Submit entries to assist in log review. These entries should not be split within the results, and the logs will not be made public.
VII. Prizes:
With a single-band log, you can only receive rewards for that specific band.
A. Plaques are awarded to recognize outstanding performance across various categories. View the current list of plaques and sponsors at <www.cqwpx.com/plates/ >.
Each participant only receives one certificate. Radio stations that win the World Award will not be considered regional award winners. If there are enough participants to justify the awarding of this prize, the winner from that region will be awarded the prize.
B. Certificates: All participants who submit their work on time can download an electronic certificate.
VIII. Club Matches:
The club score is the total score submitted by members for their logs. There are two separate categories of club competitions.
A. US Clubs: Participation is limited to club members who reside within a 250-mile radius of the club's central area.
B.DX Club: Membership is limited to members who reside within the country where the club is located or within a radius of 400 kilometers from the club's center.
C. General Club Rules:
1. National organizations (such as JARL, REF, or DARC) are not eligible to participate in club competitions.
2. An individual participant can only contribute to a single club. Points earned by multiple operators can be distributed among multiple clubs based on the percentage of club members participating in the operation. Log entries must clearly state the full name of the club (and, if applicable, the proportion allocated to the club).
3. The club must receive at least four logs in order to be listed in the results. Log entries are not counted towards the club's total.
4. The term "residence" should be defined as: permanent residence, continuous residence, or occupying a person's fixed, permanent, and primary dwelling for legal purposes.
Nine. Terminology Definitions:
A. Location of the station: The area where all transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, and antennas are located. All transmitters, receivers, and amplifiers must be within a 500-meter diameter circle. Antennas must be physically connected to the transmitters, receivers, and amplifiers via RF transmission lines.
B.QSO seeking assistance: Provide the operator with the call sign or multiplier identifier for the signal, using any available technology or source. This includes, but is not limited to, using CW decoders, DX clusters, DX locator websites (such as DX Summit), local or remote call signs and frequencies, and decoding techniques (such as CW Skimmer or reverse beacon networks), or arrangements involving other individuals.
Ten. General rules for all entrances:
Answer: Participants must conduct any activities that could affect their scores within the limits specified for their chosen category.
Each entry must use a different call sign. Only the call sign of the participant can be used to help the participant score points.
In any band, the total output power of a class should not exceed the specified limit for that class. The total output power in any band is measured at the final output of the active amplifier.
D does not allow for self-discovery or being discovered by others.
All operations by E. Company must be conducted from a single site location. If all transmitters, receivers, and antennas are physically located at one site, remote operation is permitted. The radio used for remote operation must comply with all applicable licenses, operator licenses, and category restrictions. The call sign used must be one that has been issued or approved by the regulatory authority in the station's location.
F. Remote receivers outside of the facility are not permitted.
G. Company always allows only one signal on a single frequency band.
H is not allowed to alternate between two or more frequencies on a single band for CQ.
1. All contact requests, call responses, call signal copies, and match exchanges must be completed using the match's specific mode and frequency during the match.
After the J competition, it is not permitted to use any database, recordings, emails, or other methods to correct call signs and communications in the records using QSO confirmation.
The call sign recorded in K must be the same as the call sign used by the participant during the QSO via radio exchange.
For ITU Region 1 radio stations: During the SSB (single-sideband) competition weekend, it is not permitted to transmit signals exceeding 7200 kHz in the 40m band.
For ITU Region 1 radio stations: It is not permitted to transmit signals below 1810 kHz during the competition weekend.
11. Log details:
Electronic submission of logs is a mandatory requirement for all participants.
A. The log must display the following information for each contact: the correct date and time in UTC format, frequency (or band), call sign of the working station, transmitting station, and receiving station. Logs that are missing any of the required information must be reclassified as Checklog. Contacts should be recorded immediately upon completion. Radio stations competing for world, continental, and US awards must provide accurate frequencies for all contacts in the log.
B. Participants in a single band must include all contacts made during the competition, even if they were made with other bands. Only contact logs made on the frequency specified in the Cabrillo title will be counted as part of a single-band entry. Only one log from a single band will be classified as a single-band entry.
C. The CABRILLO file format is the standard format for log files. For detailed instructions on filling out the CABRILLO header, please refer to www.cqwpx.com/cabrillo.htm. Failure to properly fill in the header may result in entries being placed in the wrong category or reclassified during a check of the log file. Note: US radio stations must indicate their location (e.g., location:OH) in the CABRILLO header.
D. The web is the only way to submit logs. Web uploading of logs is available at <www.cqwpx.com/logcheck/>All received logs will be confirmed via email. A list of received logs can be found at <www.cqwpx.com >
E. Non-CABRILLO electronic log instructions: If you are unable to submit logs in CABRILLO format, please contact the competition supervisor for assistance with submitting logs in another format.
F. Confirmation: All received logs will be confirmed via email. A list of received logs can be found at <www.cqwpx.com >.
G. Log Submission: Participants can withdraw their submitted logs within 30 days of the log submission deadline, for any reason. Please contact the competition supervisor for guidance.
Twelve. Log file expiration date:
Answer: All submitted entries must be submitted within five days of the competition's conclusion.（5）Submission Deadline: SSB logs must be submitted no later than 23:59 UTC on April 5, 2024. CW logs must be submitted no later than 23:59 HTC on May 31, 2024. Resubmitting items after the deadline will result in them being treated as late submissions.
An extension can be requested via email to < 董事@cqwpx.com>:. All requests must state a valid reason and be received before the deadline specified in the log. Extensions can only be granted after confirmation by the competition supervisor.
Logs submitted after the C deadline may be included in the results, but will not qualify for an award.
Thirteen. Assessment:
The CQ WPX competition committee is responsible for reviewing and adjudicating the submitted entries. Participants are expected to adhere to the rules and best practices for amateur radio operation. Any violation of the competition rules or unethical behavior may result in disciplinary action by the committee.
A. Unethical behavior: Examples of unethical behavior include, but are not limited to:
1. Use any non-amateur radio means, such as telephone, internet, instant messaging, chat rooms, VoIP, social media, or websites, to arrange or confirm contact information for anyone involved in the competition during the event.
2. Participants transmit data at frequencies exceeding the limits specified in their license.
3. The timestamps in the changelog are used to satisfy band change or disable time rule requirements.
4. Express appreciation for QSOs or multipliers that cannot be verified.
5. Excessive bandwidth on other frequency bands (such as "splatter" or "clicks") or signals from harmonics.
6. The radio operator made more than 3 contacts without transmitting a call sign.
B. Disciplinary Measures: In case of violation, participants will be disqualified from the competition and the decision will be made by the committee.
1. Disqualification: Submissions that do not meet the criteria for winning will be listed at the end of the results announcement.
2. Notification of committee action will be sent to the address provided during log submission. Participants have five days to appeal to the competition supervisor. After that period, the decision is final.
3. Participants can withdraw their submissions within 30 days after the deadline, for any reason. Please contact the competition supervisor for guidance.
4. The committee reserves the right to modify any item category based on its review of logs or other information.
C. Log Inspection: Use custom software and manual review to inspect all logs.
1. Deleting duplicate contacts will not result in any additional penalties.
2. Contacts received in error will be deleted without incurring any additional fines.
3. Calls that are incorrectly identified as errors or cannot be found in other logs will be removed, and the user associated with the callsign will receive a penalty twice the value of the callsign's QTH (location) point value.
4. Individuals who violate the rules regarding frequency changes for multi-operator scenarios will be removed, and will not receive any additional penalties.
Fourteen. Declaration:
By submitting the CQ WPX competition log, and considering the efforts of the CQ WPX competition committee to review and evaluate the log, participants unconditionally and irrevocably agree to: 1) read and understand the competition rules and agree to be bound by them; 2) operate in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations related to amateur radio at the location of the station; 3) consent to the public disclosure of entries in the log; and 4) accept that disqualification notices and other decisions by the committee are final and binding. If a participant is unwilling or unable to agree to all of the above, they should not submit their entry or submit it solely for verification purposes.
